Skimboarder, few have a natural gift

More experienced riders are able to perform tricks like the ones performed by skateboarders. Other riders take this one step further and ride out into the waves. Aerials are a tricky thing to do on a skimboard and it takes quite a bit of practice until a rider is able to do it. Usually, if a rider meets the waves they just skim up it and then back on to the shore.

The history of the sport can be dated back to the 1920s. The sport enjoyed a boom in the late 60’s and 70’s and then again during the 90’s. While skimming is no where near as well known as surfing, it still enjoys incredible popularity among beach goers. Mastering this sport can take time and considerable skill. While nearly anyone can learn to skimboarder, few have a natural gift for it so if you want to learn you might as expect a few falls and scrapes along the way. Skimboarding is fast paced, fun and once mastered, capable of complex technical tricks.
