Rainwater tanks for happy plants
If you are a keen vegetable grower you may well have spent most of last spring praying for rain. But hold the rain dancing and think about installing a rainwater tank instead. Large capacity rainwater tanks can hold upto 1200 litres of rainwater – a very useful supply when you are sowing and trying to establish young seedlings. Many plants also prefer rainwater to tap water, if you have small acers in containers it is vital, but it’s not just the acid loving plants that prefer it. Most young vegetables do better when watered with water at ambient temperature, as indeed water stored in a rainwater tank is, rather than cold water from your taps. With water shortages still being threatened across Europe it has never been a better time to install a rainwater tank.
