Orchid Tips

1. When it comes to growing orchids at home the potting medium is of prime importance. The moisture needs of the orchids cannot be fulfilled by soil. The best medium to grow orchids would be shredded coconut, wood chips, or sphagnum moss.

2. Tropical temperatures are loved by orchids. During the day they would require a warm climate of approximately 30 degrees celsius, while during the night it can 15 degree celsius.

3. Orchids do not like frequent re-potting. You would need to re-pot your orchid may be once every couple of years or more. You can re-pot the orchid in a similar sized pot and just refresh the nutrients in the medium as the root structure does not increase in size. The only frequent phenomenon are dead roots and you would need to remove them while re-potting.
