Main Islands of the Canaries
Looking at a world map, you’ll notice seven main islands in the Canaries. The capital cities of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria and Santa Cruz de Tenerife are also considered the capital cities of Canary Islands. Tenerife island is the largest island in the Canaries where 3,000 parrots can be found in Loro Parque (Parrot Park). Verdant forests and idyllic beaches are only two of the many attractions of the island of Gran Canaria. The beauty of Gran Canaria lays in the contrasts of its landscapes, from lush forests and beaches, to amazing volcanic craters, desert dunes, and mountain peaks. And the smaller islands, are packed with many exciting activities and landscapes.
