We live in a small town in Texas and need to leave before Hurricane Ike hits us,and the Mayor says that only the school superintendent can close the schools,so if we leave,our children will have an unexcused absent.We are in a county that has been posted as a warning.Who is the superintendent’s boss in the Mayor’s city?

uh…..why does it freaking matter? Your kids are in danger; get them the hell out and figure out the stupid absence policy after the water receeds.

Afterwards; try the school’s atty and the school board.

I am trying to locate major U.S. cities or regions where K-12 public school districts will not face severe financial problems in spring of 2009, but will have their usual budgets still intact, especially for staff development. Thanks.

i really dont know how to answer this.but i will try.i used to work for the board of ed.many years ago.there is no such thing as enough in the budget.they do not allow it to happen.they would rather throw it away then have a reserve at the end of any given year.and i dont see it changing any time soon.the board of ed.through out the country has become a joke.well thats my opinion.good luck in your future.do all you can to educate your self aside from school.you can do it.

I read in the paper that teachers were needed in the inner city schools in Baltimore. I have BA in history and Minor in Political Science and would be getting my MA in Education (religious education) to be exact, but would like to give something back to the community before teaching in Private religious schools.
I do not have educational degree right now, because the decision to teach came to me recently after I met a high school kid who could not tell me how many senators we have, how many states we have (he told me 52). He came from Baltimore inner city schools.
So, before I would like to teach in Religious private schools I would really like to teach in the Baltimore inner city schools until I finish with my MA in Religious Education (and then give inner city schools couple of more years, before easing myself into religious education)
Any help that you would provide me I would greatly appreciate. Please serious answers only. Because I truly would like to teach for the Baltimore inner city school system.

Most states have an alternative licensing program, for people in your situation. It is possible to get a teaching license without a teaching degree, although it might require you to take a class or too. I would suggest going to the Maryland Dept of Ed website and looking there for starters. http://www.marylandpublicschools.org/MSDE

If you are intent on teaching in inner city schools, I would highly suggest that you take a class or have a plethera of ideas for classroom management! Good luck!!

My step daughters will be entering the 2nd grade at Rognel Heights, and 6th grade at Friendship Academy. I have looked on the Baltimore City school website, but have yet to find a school supply list. I also called each school, but they did not return my calls. HELP!

School supply lists are often posted at stores such as Wal-Mart, Office Max, Office Depot, Staples, etc.

I would also suggest calling your school’s district office to see if they have a list available.

I’m a father with two childern in a inner city school in denver that is a nonprofit I’m trying to help put the school in a stronger and smarter place moeny wise.

If you have access to a computer and you have to ask on here rather than finding out for yourself, then I wouldn’t even try what you are doing.
