for example, one thing the city government can do to protect our natural enviornment would be recycling and federal would be clean air act. if u only know 1 or 2 then thats fine.

City:
1. Educate the public on conservation issues, water & wastewater treatment issues, etc.
2. Adopt a recycling program to encourage customers to bag recycleables separately. This will reduce wastes in landfills and save raw materials.
3. Use advanced wastewater treatment technologies to provide a cleaner effluent being discharged to receiving streams.

Federal:
1. Enforce the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, and the Clean Air Act.
2. Provide funding to State programs to provide technical assistance and training for these programs.
3. Require farmers to use vegetative buffer strips to prevent runoff of nutrients to receiving streams and control soil erosion.

Does anyone know differences between township government and city government? Thanks for your help.

Townships are usually unincorporated areas of the County and are set up as an advisory board with no real powers. City governments have voting powers over everything within their incorporated area. They also sit on other bodies and are somtimes given voting powers over regional issues.

Note that some townships may have voting rights/powers in some states.

I can’t find any reference to the city Government of Aptos, CA anywhere.

That’s because it isn’t a city. It’s an unincorporated area of Santa Cruz County California.
Put "Santa Cruz County Government" into your search engine.

There is a good chance your local government includes a city manager and a city or county commission. Many of the reforms discussed today are probably present in your local government.

My town has a Mayor, and 5 council members, of which all have committee assignments in Economic Development, Personnel, Parks board, Water shed, etc…

We have volunteers that run the parks board, watershed, EDA, etc…

The town has a City Manager/Administrator, a couple of paid office staff for accounting/billing, administrative work.

Volunteer fire department. Paid Police staff, 1 chief and 6 officers, 2-4 on reserve if needed.

Does the city government have the right to close down local churches so they can use the land for their own hidden agenda?

A city government CAN because of the "conservative" Supreme Court ruling on eminent domain, where property can be seized by city/country/state governments for development or "re-development". No property is exempt. The US Supreme Court stated that eminent domain can apply as long as the seizure does not violate the public use clauses of the state and federal constitutions. The court found that if an economic project creates new jobs, increases tax and other city revenues, and revitalizes a depressed (even if not blighted) urban area, it qualifies as a public use. The court also found that government delegation of eminent domain power to a private entity was also constitutional as long as the private entity served as the legally authorized agent of the government

Just prior to these moments here, Mr. Ford started speaking about something the mayor said earlier during the briefing (also open to the public), something about how a council member should act during a meeting. During the briefing, the mayor talked about how Mr. Ford has been disruptive, and said if there are any other outbursts, he (the mayor) will have the council member removed. So, during the Council Meeting proper, Mr. Ford reiterated what the mayor had said during the briefing. The Mayor responded that Mr. Ford was out of order, then asked the city manager to ask Mr. Ford to leave the chamber. That’s where this video picks up. I need to know what steps I need to take to file an intentional negligence complaint against my city government. I am located in Iowa. I will represent myself because there is no question as to the guilt of those involved.

I would still get a lawyer. It may be that they are obviously guilty as hell but you could still lose due to procedural issues or something else.
