Are the tap water supplied in good hotel and apartments in international city safe?
By safe I mean if they are safe to use in cooking food. And also, if you have experience them in drinking?
No problem at all for cooking. Bottled water is so cheap that I would not take the risk of drinking it.
It’s said it’s safe to drink, but……………I would not, no matter how clean the hotel is.
I am looking for a small studio or one bedroom apartment for myself, preferably uptown in Washington Heights or Inwood, and do not want to pay a ridiculous broker’s fee.

Hi there… perhaps a free Australian online classified such as Cracker’s pet section may be able to help you answer your question. Here’s the direct link where you can post a free ad: http://cracker.com.au/
To say a apartment is "railroad style" means that the rooms are connected to each other in a row. There is usually not a separate hallway running through the apartment connecting the rooms, rather it’s on the outside of the apartment running from end to end of the apt between the two entrances, in the building’s common space.
In other words, one bedroom door will open up into another bedroom. So for example, to get to the the living room in this set up from a bedroom, you’d have to walk through another bedroom, not a hallway, or exit the apartment and walk through the mutual building hallway. In most cases (it’s the law to have two exits), there will be two entrances/exits to the building’s hallway, like in one of the bedrooms and then another in like the living room, so you could always avoid walking through your roommate’s room by exiting the apartment and re-entering through the front door. It all depends on the specific floor plan.
My building was built in 1930 and I need to acquire the floor plans/ blueprints for my apartment to prove whether it is a 2 or 3 bedroom. I’ve searched the dept of building site but to no avail. Any information is appreciated. Is there any other way to prove in court the size and how many rooms are in your apartment without the blueprints? Thank you
You could get a surveyor in to measure the rooms and have him/her sign an affidavit.
